Advancing Halal Awareness and Food Processing through Innovation

TESDA Regional Training Center- NCR and DOST NCR conducted a meeting to discuss a proposed initiative on Halal Awareness and Halal Food Processing. The meeting highlighted DOST NCR’s innovative approach to equipping individuals with essential skills and knowledge in Halal Slaughtering. DOST-NCR presented a proposal integrating virtual reality simulations to ensure compliance with religious requirements and food safety standards. This initiative aims to enhance the capabilities of individuals while promoting Halal industry development in the region.

The meeting took place on February 21, 2025 at RTC-NCR, TESDA Complex, Taguig City. Participants included Amiel 0. Arguil, Bebviet Bulagao, and Bianca Canlas from DOST-NCR. From TESDA, the attendees were Eden F. Tugade from TESDA NCR, along with Rita Mae P. Jordan-Gamboa and Eugene P. Agcaoili from RTC-NCR. The discussion focused on identifying possible collaboration efforts to support training and certification in Halat Food Processing The event emphasized the importance of aligning skills development with industry needs and regulatory standards.

Through this initiative, TESDA RTC-NCR and DOST NCR aim to create a sustainable training program for Halal practices. The use of virtual reality technology is expected to modernize training methods and improve learning outcomes. Future collaborations will focus on refining the training modules and expanding their reach to more stakeholders. This effort reinforces the commitment of both agencies to skills development and industry innovation.
