For Isaac D. Bermejo, a simple scroll through social media led to a life-changing
opportunity. It was there that he first discovered the TESDA Regional Training Center –
National Capital Region (RTC-NCR). With air conditioning skills becoming increasingly in
demand, Isaac realized that enrolling in the DOMRAC NC II (Domestic Refrigeration and
Air Conditioning) program would give him the knowledge and advantage he needed to
build a future in the industry. His decision marked the beginning of a journey filled with
learning, perseverance, and new opportunities.
During his training at RTC-NCR, Isaac was equipped with both technical and practical
skills. He learned the essentials of preventive maintenance and repair, the basic functions
and processes of air conditioning systems, and the importance of ensuring safety when
handling units. These lessons gave him a strong foundation to understand the field better.
Completing the program and earning his TESDA National Certification became a defining
moment in his journey. The certification not only validated his newly acquired skills but
also gave him the confidence and credibility to pursue work, even without previous
experience in air conditioning.
After finishing the program, Isaac began working as a freelance technician. This step
allowed him to immediately apply the skills he gained from TESDA while also supporting
his family financially. Freelancing became an avenue to build his confidence in dealing
with clients and solving real technical issues on the job. It was also during this time that
Isaac realized how valuable his training was, as it gave him the tools to earn a livelihood
while searching for stable employment. Looking back, he emphasized, “My TESDA
National Certification significantly contributed to securing my current position, despite my
lack of prior experience in air conditioning. I believe this certification highlights my strong
potential in the field.”
His persistence eventually bore fruit when his TESDA National Certification played a
major role in helping him secure his current position as a Technical Assistant under the
Property Management Division at Park Triangle Corporate Center. In this role, he
continues to apply the knowledge and skills he gained from TESDA, particularly in
preventive maintenance and system troubleshooting. For Isaac, the change has been
transformative: “The training I received not only upgraded my skills and knowledge in air conditioning, but also significantly boosted my confidence when discussing AC systems
with clients. Furthermore, it provided a means to support my family as a freelance
technician during my job search.” His journey is proof of how skills training can open doors
and transform lives—from discovering TESDA through social media, to gaining technical
expertise at RTC-NCR, to starting out as a freelancer, and finally finding regular
employment with a stable career path ahead of him.
