Jaimes Victor A. Docto first discovered TESDA through social media, particularly the TESDA-National Capital Region Facebook page, where he learned about the agency’s free training programs. Driven by his passion for technology and his desire to enhance his skills, he decided to enroll in Photovoltaic Systems Installation NC II at TESDA Regional Training Center – NCR under the mentorship of Sir Junrey M. Eguna, PVSI NC II Trainer. “Ang reason ko talaga bakit nag-training at nag-apply ako sa free training ng TESDA ay dahil gusto kong ma-level up ang skill at knowledge ko, at napili ko ang Photovoltaic Installation dahil sa panahon ngayon na ang teknolohiya ng kuryente ay lalong nagle-level sa technology,” he shared.
Through the intensive hands-on training, Jaimes developed not only technical knowledge
but also the confidence to turn his learning into livelihood. “Lahat ng knowledge at skill ko ay products ng TESDA. Dahil dito, nakapagtrabaho ako at nakabuo ng isang grupo na nag-i-install ng solar — at nabigyan ko din ng trabaho ang mga kasamahan ko,” he proudly said. He emphasized that without TESDA’s support and certification, finding a stable job would have been difficult. “Kung wala ang TESDA, mahirap makahanap ng trabaho lalo na kung wala kang certificate na ikaw ay may skill. Sobrang malaking tulong sa akin ang TESDA,” he added.
Now a certified Solar Installer, Jaimes continues to pay forward the opportunities he received by training and employing others in his community. “Malaki ang pagbabago noong ako’y nag-graduate bilang isang Solar Installer. Nakapagbigay ako ng trabaho sa mga kasamahan ko sa barangay at tinuruan ko rin sila tungkol sa solar at basic knowledge sa photovoltaic,” he shared with pride. From discovering TESDA on Facebook to becoming a source of light — both literally and figuratively — Jaimes’ story embodies the true essence of TESDA: empowering Filipinos through skills, opportunities, and the
power of learning.
