On August 12, 2025, TESDA representatives and industry leaders from CMB Films convened at Shooting Gallery Studios, Zapote, Makati City, for the official kick-off meeting of the Curriculum Development initiative for the film industry. The session was attended by Director Larry Manda of the Lupon ng Pilipinong Sinematograpo, Director Krizzie Syfu (Advertising Director), Jaime Baltazar (President and Managing Director, CMB Films), Jem Santos-Quaimbao (Head – Operations, Admin. Production Services & Special Projects, CMB Film Services, Inc. & Shoot Digital Video Co.), along with TESDA officials led by District Director Maria Gracia P. Dela Rama. Other TESDA participants included Jerry Taroy (Supervising TESD Specialist, RTC-NCR), Nelson Efren (Supervising TESD Specialist, PASMAK District Office), Rita Mae Jordan-Gamboa (Partnership and Linkages Focal), Joy Tumambing (Administrative Officer V, RTC-NCR), Aryan Beciril (UTPRAS Focal, RTC-NCR), Jean Maurice Constantino (Enrollment Focal, RTC-NCR), Roel M. Abito, and Rizal Bautista. The meeting marked the formal start of collaborative efforts to develop a standardized curriculum that addresses the roles of Grip, Lighting, and Electrical in film production.
The activity focused on aligning curriculum development with TESDA’s structured process, beginning with functional analysis and competency standards formulation. Industry experts shared insights on the technical and practical demands of each role, drawing from actual production workflows and field practices. Discussions also covered occupational mapping, defining performance criteria, and establishing clear entry requirements for trainees. The partnership aims to bridge industry requirements and tech-voc training, ensuring that future professionals are equipped with both technical skills and standardized work practices.
In addition to Lupon ng Pilipinong Sinematograpo and CMB Films representatives, the meeting was attended by various specialists and focal persons from TESDA-RTC NCR and PASMAK District Office. This initiative is expected to strengthen industry led collaboration, improve training quality, and pave the way for nationally recognized competency standards in the Philippine film production sector.
