On February 5, 2024, an exploratory meeting was held with Caritas Manila to discuss potential collaborations in providing training programs to beneficiaries from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) across various cities in Metro Manila. The primary objective was to offer opportunities for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) in jail to learn and acquire skills that could facilitate their rehabilitation and reintegration into society upon release. Additionally, the meeting aimed to explore the possibility of extending training programs to Out of School Youth (OSY) in different barangays within Metro Manila, thereby empowering them with valuable skills for personal and professional development.
Following the discussions during the exploratory meeting, a visit to the Caritas Manila office in Manila was organized on February 27, 2024. This visit allowed for further exploration of collaboration possibilities and facilitated the exchange of ideas and resources between RTC-NCR and Caritas Manila. Both parties emphasized the importance of providing accessible and inclusive training opportunities to marginalized sectors of society, with a shared commitment to fostering positive change and empowerment. By leveraging training programs to support the rehabilitation and empowerment of PDLs and OSY, RTC-NCR and Caritas Manila aim to contribute to the transformation and upliftment of individuals and communities across Metro Manila.
