In its quest to boost its services and to promote science and technology among its learners, the Regional Training Center–National Capital Region (RTC-NCR) collaborates with the Science and Technology Information Institute (STII) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) for the installation of the Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly-Operated Kiosk or STARBOOKS at the Center’s learning resource facility.
RTC-NCR Administrator Gilbert Castro, supervisor Michael William Del Rosario, partnership focal Niño Enrico Nuevo, registrar and library focal Jean Maurice Constantino met with STARBOOKS Project leader Mavie Narquita, Science Research Specialist and Alan Taule of STII-DOST on January 04, 2023 thru Zoom to discuss the proposed collaboration.
Ms. Narquita shared updates about the STARBOOKS project and explained the requirements on how to avail of the project thru a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
STARBOOKS is a stand-alone information source designed to reach people with limited or no access to S&T information rqesources. The project aims to provide Science, Technology, and Innovation or STI-based content in various formats to students and other constituents in geographically-isolated and economically-challenged schools and communities throughout the country.
