VirtuHalal: An Interactive Simulation for Halal Slaughtering

The Memorandum of Agreement signing at between and among DOST-NCR, FEU Institute of Technology and TESDA NCR held on November 13, 2025 at the FEU Institute of Technology marked an important step in developing the VirtuHalal Project. It highlighted the shared commitment of DOST NCR, FEU Tech, and TESDA NCR to create an accessible and affordable virtual reality training platform for Halal slaughtering. The event emphasized the value of innovation in supporting food safety and Shariah compliance in communities with limited access to traditional slaughterhouses. The messages delivered by the partner agencies set a strong tone for collaboration and progress.

The highlight of the event was the ceremonial MOA signing, which formalized the partnership among DOST NCR, FEU Tech, and TESDA NCR through RTC NCR. This moment signaled the beginning of a project that aims to build industry-informed systems, promote proper slaughtering practices, and advance research aligned with community needs. The support expressed by the Regional Directors and project leaders reinforced the importance of shared goals in producing impactful results for both industry and consumers.

The event was attended by TESDA NCR Regional Director Angelina M. Carreon, CESO III; RTC NCR Center Administrator Eugene P. Agcaoili, and staff from TESDA RTC-NCR; DOST NCR Regional Director Engr. Romelen T. Tresvalles; Assistant Regional Director Bianca Claudette R. Canlas; and the DOST NCR Team. FEU Tech Executive Director Rossana T. Adao and the FEU Tech VirtuHalal Team were also present. Ms. Adao delivered the welcome message, followed by the opening message of Engr. Tresvalles and the message of support from Director Carreon.

The VirtuHalal Project aims to develop a virtual simulation of Halal slaughtering through the Scrum method and produce outputs such as journals, patents, system manuals, testing reports, and a TVG for partner agencies. It also seeks to train extension beneficiaries and promote proper slaughtering practices guided by Food Safety Standards and Shariah Law. The project is expected to create partnerships, support Muslim communities, and bring science and technology solutions closer to the public.
