TESDA RTC-NCR Conducts PV System Design Training for Philippine Army Chief Engineer Personnel

The TESDA Regional Training Center – NCR conducted a Photovoltaic (PV) System Design training for 17 uniformed personnel from The Office of the Army Chief Engineer (OACE) of the Philippine Army. The training took place from August 5 to August 11, 2025 at RTC-NCR Building 14, TESDA Complex, Taguig City, and was facilitated by Trainer Jerry O. Taroy. The program aimed to enhance the participants’ competencies by integrating PV system design knowledge into their existing skills in PV system installation.

The training covered comprehensive learning outcomes including site assessment, calculation of energy requirements, sizing of PV arrays, charge controllers, and inverters, as well as specifying cable sizes, circuit protection, and disconnect switches. Participants also prepared system drawings, conducted economic analyses, and developed PV system documentation such as wiring diagrams, performance estimates, and maintenance schedules. The course concluded with the preparation of a bill of materials, ensuring that trainees could plan, cost, and document PV system projects effectively. These skills are essential for supporting sustainable energy solutions and strengthening the technical capabilities of the Philippine Army’s engineering units.

Implemented by TESDA RTC-NCR in partnership with OACE, the training reinforces the shared commitment to advancing renewable energy competencies within the Armed Forces. The newly acquired skills will enable participants to design and oversee PV system projects in various Army facilities nationwide. This initiative is expected to pave the way for future technical training collaborations, contributing to operational efficiency, energy sustainability, and the long-term modernization efforts of the Army’s engineering corps.
