Capability Building Program on Curriculum Enhancement and Contextualization 

In celebration of its 5th Anniversary, the TESDA Regional Training Center – National Capital Region (RTC-NCR), in collaboration with the Curriculum and Training Aids Development Division (CTADD-QSO), conducted a Capability Building Program on Curriculum Enhancement and Contextualization on July 21, 2025 at TESDA Regional Training Innovation Center-NCR. This initiative is part of RTC-NCR’s broader effort to continuously enhance quality of training delivery. It aims to equip trainers with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively integrate key components such as 21st Century Skills, Gender and Development (GAD), Social Inclusion, and Green TVET into curricula and learning materials.

The program started with an opening program led by Mr. Jean Maurice R. Constantino, who served as the Master of Ceremonies. He warmly welcomed the participants and set the tone for the day’s capability building program by highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts and unified goals in strengthening curriculum design and contextualization to improve the overall quality of training delivery.

Enhancement and Contextualization.

Mr. Eugene P. Agcaoili, Center Administrator of RTC-NCR, formally welcomed the participants, trainers and curriculum developers from RTC-NCR and TESDA Technology Institutions (TTIs) within the National Capital Region. In his message, he highlighted the importance of responsive and inclusive curriculum development. He also emphasized the objectives of the program, which were to:

  • Equip TESDA trainers and curriculum developers with knowledge and strategies for contextualizing training curricula and learning materials.
  • Provide clear explanations and hands-on guidance on the integration of 21st Century Skills, Gender and Development (GAD), Social Inclusion, and Green TVET into the curriculum.

Following this, Mr. Jerry O. Taroy, Senior TESD Specialist and VIS Designate of RTC-NCR, facilitated the morning session by providing comprehensive guidelines on curriculum contextualization. He also led a hands-on workshop on its practical application and addressed clarifications raised by participants throughout the session.

In the afternoon session, Mr. Edgardo Caldit, TESD Specialist II from QSO-CTADD, led an in-depth discussion on the integration of 21st Century Skills, Gender and Development (GAD), Social Inclusion, and Green TVET. This was followed by a hands-on workshop that provided participants with clear guidance on effectively embedding these key elements into training curricula and learning materials.

The program concluded with a brief closing program, where participants shared insights from the workshop session. As part of the closing program, certificates were awarded to acknowledge the active participation and support of the resource speaker, trainers and curriculum developers. The certificates were personally awarded by Mr. Eugene P. Agcaoili, Center Administrator of RTC-NCR, and Mr. Jerry O. Taroy, VIS Designate, in recognition of the valuable contributions made by the participants throughout the program.

He also extended a heartfelt gratitude to all participants for their valuable contributions to this meaningful and collaborative endeavor.
