On two separate occasions last January 15 and February 08, 2024, RTC-NCR facilitated a training program in Basic Servicing and Maintenance of Air Conditioning Units. Held in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City, 50 participants were trained in the said program composed of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) and Jail Officers from Annex 2 and Annex 5 of Metro Manila District Jail (MMDJ).
Led by its HVAC trainer, Niño Enrico R. Nuevo, the learners were trained in the servicing and maintenance of both Window-type and Split-type air conditioning units in the 1-day program and was also given a chance to maintain the jail office’s air conditioning units through actual demonstration in the afternoon.
Continuing its program since 2023, this is RTC-NCR’s 4th batch in the conduct of the said program in partnership with Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) with hopes of giving alternative employment and entrepreneurial opportunities for PDLs upon their release from detention.
