Celebrating Skills and Excellence: RTC-NCR’s Trainees Week Commemorating TESDA’s 29th Anniversary

In celebration of the 29th Anniversary of TESDA, the Regional Training Center – NCR steered its first ever Trainees Week from August 14-30, 2023 held inside the TESDA Complex, Taguig City.

The said event highlights four (4) major events which includes: Mini Skills Competition, Laro ng Lahi, Tech-tok Challenge, and the Showcase of Technology & Open House.

The Mini Skills Competition of the RTC-NCR mirrors the global spirit of the World Skills Competition. This localized event offers the RTC-NCR’s learners a platform to hone their skills and showcase their talents on a smaller scale, echoing the international competition’s commitment to excellence. 

By emulating the World Skills Competition’s standards and challenges, the Mini Skills Competition not only elevates the skills of participating learners but also fosters healthy competition, encouraging them to push their boundaries and continuously improve.

The “Laro ng Lahi,” a celebration of traditional Filipino games, also took center stage as a captivating component of the Trainees Week activities held every after class. This event allowed TVET learners to immerse themselves in the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines, fostering camaraderie and nostalgia thru the classic games like “Sack Race”, “Tug of War”, “Patintero”, and more.

Participating Qualifications include: Mechatronics Servicing NC II, Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC III, Visual Graphic Design NC III, Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC-R), and PV Systems Installation NC II

In addition, the Tech-Tok Challenge added a contemporary twist to the Trainees Week, harnessing the power of TikTok as a platform to spotlight their learners TVET programs. This digital showcase allowed learners to exhibit their skills and creativity while highlighting the practical aspects of their vocational training in a fun and engaging way.

The RTC-NCR Open House, featuring the latest in learning technology, also served as a remarkable event that highlights the cutting-edge systems of the Center to elevate the quality of its training programs. It provided a firsthand glimpse not only to the Learners but also to other stakeholders of the Center into the innovative tools and methodologies being used to empower learners, demonstrating RTC-NCR’s commitment to staying at the forefront of TVET advancements.

The winners were honored and participants recognized on August 30, 2023 at the RTC-NCR Lobby for their outstanding contributions, it was a moment of pride and achievement. To foster solidarity and unity, the Trainees Week also organized the “One Big Boodle Fight,” a communal feast that brought everyone together.

The Culminating Activity and Awarding Ceremony marked the grand conclusion of an eventful Trainees Week, a fitting culmination of a week-long celebration of talent and dedication among TVET learners.
