Ms. Ana Claire Peñaojas Hernandez Wins Silver Medal and Best of the Nation Award in the 13th Worldskills ASEAN Competition

Pursuant to Sec. 30 of Republic Act 7796, otherwise known as the TESDA Act of 1994, the authority, with the active participation of private industries, shall organize and conduct annual National Skills Olympics, to promote quality skills development in the country and the view of participating in international skills competitions. 

The selection of the Philippines’ representatives for the international competition depends mainly on the outcome of the local competitions (Provincial/District, Regional, and National).

On July 17 – 20, 2023, the Worldskills ASEAN Competition will be conducted in Singapore. Regional Training Center – NCR (RTC-NCR) will be participating in the said competition. 

Ms. Ana Claire Peñaojas Hernandez, representative of RTC-NCR for the Graphics Design Technology Category, will compete in the ASEAN Skills Competition after winning the 2023 Philippine National Skills Competition held at National Capital Region last March 27 – 31, 2023.

To prepare for the Worldskills ASEAN Competition, Ms. Hernandez undergo training with Mr. Demetrio C. Pable Jr., Trainer of RTC-NCR for Visual Graphic Design NC III on June 26, 2023 – July 07, 2023. 

During the two-week training period, the training focus was directed towards technical aspects and desired outcomes. Ms. Hernandez was guided through lectures by her expert with the expectation that she would acquire knowledge in the following areas:

  • Staying updated on technological trends and developments within the industry
  • Understanding various input and output processes for print and other media, including their constraints, techniques, and relevant professional practices;
  • Proficiency in image input, manipulation, and editing;
  • Mastering appropriate aspects such as file sizes, formats, resolution, and compression;
  • Comprehending color systems, including gamuts, ink density, color matching, spot colors, ICC profiles, and related topics;
  • Familiarity with printers’ marks, bleed, die lines, varnishes, blind embossing, and other embellishments;
  • Competence in employing suitable software applications
  • Gaining knowledge about different types of materials and digital devices
