The Regional Training Center-NCR held separate exploratory meetings with prospective partners from the industry and the academe on March 23, 2023.
Led by Center Administrator Gilbert Castro, the RTC-NCR team met with key officials from Powerhouse Inc. and Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP)- Manila. Powerhouse is a US-designed brand of power tools and welding-related equipment exclusively distributed by Hap Suy Hardware Co. Inc. while PUP has been a stalwart among the universities in Manila.
The team explored the development of micro credential course for the preventive maintenance of power tools with Powerhouse Marketing Director Kendrick Siy. He cited the scarcity of skilled technicians in the country who can be depended on the maintenance of power tools and equipment. Also discussed is the partnership for the conduct of supervised industry learning, development of competency standards and curriculum, and immersion of trainers. On the other hand, the team sat down with PUP President Manuel Muhi along with some of PUP’s deans and key officials to discuss partnership for the development of programs deemed mutually beneficial to PUP and RTC-NCR namely development of diploma programs, conduct of technology and applied research and skills upgrading of students, faculty and support staff of the university.
